Zharmaine & Joshua

Zharmaine and Joshua had a fun little chess set & a vintage camcorder setup for their engagement session! We met up at the Sella Bay overlook in the late afternoon, when the hills are that gorgeous shade of green and there's this fresh breeze coming off the water. We laid out a blanket, set up their board, and brought along some fruit and a little lantern! Then they just... played. Joshua really takes his time thinking through each move, while Zharmaine is much quicker and watching them tease each other about it was pure joy. Every time her ring caught the light, I'd smile and think, this is exactly why I love doing this.

That's what's so special about photographing couples who genuinely enjoy each other's company. I barely needed to direct them at all. Most of these photos are just them being themselves, with the ocean below and that beautiful golden hour light Guam does so perfectly. My favorite shot is one where they've completely forgotten about the game. He's got his forehead against hers and they're both grinning like they just got away with the best secret ever.

If you're thinking about doing an engagement session and wondering whether to bring something you two love doing together- your favorite card game, your coffee ritual, your dog, that inside joke only you get... absolutely bring it! It's the best way to get photos that feel like your real life instead of someone else's Pinterest dream. And if you'd like me to capture your story, I'd be so happy to! Feel free to reach out anytime. I love hearing from people and I'm always excited to explore new spots around the island with you!
